Forth Valley and Lomond LEADER
LAG Members Area

Aims of the LAG

The Local Action Group (LAG) brings together representatives from communities, businesses, land managers, the voluntary and public sectors to guide and manage the LEADER programme.

Our mission is to improving the quality of life in rural Forth Valley and Lomond through revitalised communities and enhanced natural environments.

The projects we fund will support these aims, which are:

REVITALISING COMMUNITIES:
*Ensuring sustainable local services
*Developing community owned assets
*Supporting sustainable local enterprise
*Celebrating Forth Valley and Lomond's culture
*Sensitively developing the built environment

CONSERVATION OF THE RURAL ENVIRONMENT:
*Connecting businesses and communities to natural assets
*Environmental improvements
*Ensuring sensitive access for all
*Understanding Forth Valley and Lomond's natural heritage

All applicants should check that their  project outcomes fit with at least one of these aims. We have summarised them above for quick reference; for more detail on these aims, click here.

Remember too, that funding will be directed towards projects which are community-driven and pilot or innovative in nature.

The essence of LEADER funding is that  the programme be managed locally. In Forth Valley and Lomond we have a Local Action Group (LAG) which brings together representatives from communities, businesses, land managers, the third sector and the public sector from across the eligible area. The LAG has a maximum of 23 members with community/business representatives always being more in number than public agency members. Click here for a full list of current members.

Before the LEADER 2007 - 2013 programme started, the LAG agreed a Development Strategy which sets out our aims.
